Some insurance plans require that you obtain a referral from your primary care physician (PCP) BEFORE being seen by a specialist. If you are not sure if you require a referral, please call your PCP.

It would also be wise to find out from your insurance carrier the locations where you can have laboratory & x-ray work performed, or where procedures can be performed prior to coming to your appointment.

Unfortunately, not all insurances will cover all procedures and testing that the physician would like to perform.

Ultimately, it is the patient's responsibility to know what services and locations his/her insurance will cover.
